2002 season:
Schumacher entered the 2002 seasonfinale third in the Top Fuel drivers’ standings. Kalitta had been his closest pursuer, coming in 28 points behind in fourth. “We’ll have to wait for the official totals from the NHRA..., but we will definitely finish in the top 10 for the fourth straight season,” said Schumacher. "That’s certainly something to hang our hats on for next year."
2001 season:
At Reading, PA, Schumacher posted the fastest speed ever for a Top Fuel car – 333.08 mph. Then, in the season finale at Pomona, he set his career best e.t. – 4.517 – which ranks as the sixth quickest e.t. in NHRA history. The Sarge finished eighth in NHRA standings for the season in championship points.

2000 Season:
After a solid runner-up finish at the Winter Nationals in Pomona, Schumacher and company headed to the site of their historic 330-mph run and defeated Scelzi in the semifinals on the way to their first victory of the season. Schumacher looked to be on the way to his second NHRA Championship when a devastating qualifying crash in Memphis ended that dream for the 2000 season. After missing only three races, The Sarge made an emotional return to his U.S. Army dragster at the season finale in Pomona, CA, and went on to finish second in championship points.
