The CH-47 Chinook is the most powerful helicopter in the Army's rotary-wing arsenal. This workhorse of the Army lifts and transports equipment and troops and is used in many humanitarian missions. It can quickly lift up to 50,000 lbs, climb at a rate of over 1,500 ft/minute and reach cruising speeds of up to 143 kts.

The CH-47 Helicopter Repairer is the expert on virtually all the systems on the CH-47 Chinook helicopter. From rotors to motors, the repairer is constantly keeping the helicopter in top shape with scheduled maintenance, repairs and improvements.

Advanced-level Repairers become Crew Chiefs of the CH-47 and they are the backbone of the CH-47 team. Crew Chiefs help on certain rescue and lift missions; guide the pilots through tough landings and take-offs; and troubleshoot and mechanical problems.
